Working with Director, Joan Jeffri, Dr. Pat Miller has served as Interdisciplinary Teamwork Facilitator of Art Cart: Saving the Legacy, as well as its Health Promotion Consultant and Instructor (2010-2016). It is her great pleasure to continue this work with The Performing Arts Legacy Project (PALP), working closely with Joan Jeffri, the actors, the fellows and the acting working partners.
Dr. Miller, Special Research Scientist/Scholar in the Programs in Occupational Therapy, College of Physicians & Surgeons, Columbia University, was an Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at Columbia, until retiring in 2007. Her work in community agencies that serve older adults expanded to include 45 students per year, who conducted health promotion programs in more than 20 agencies in New York. Pat developed the first Columbia University interdisciplinary teamwork course, co-sponsored by the School of Public Health and Programs in Occupational Therapy.
After her retirement from Columbia, a 2-year grant from Columbia University’s Garvey Teaching Academy was funded, with Pat Miller as Principal Investigator, entitled, Facilitating Change to Promote Health in Older Adults: An Interdisciplinary Education Program. She continues as Co-Module Director of the NY-Columbia Geriatric Education Centers Consortium teaching interdisciplinary teamwork with Dr. John Toner. Pat presents her work at local, state, national and international meetings and has published extensively.
